I recently Quit GW,That was after one day I tried to get a grp with my Necro and couldnt for the life of me get one because I didnt have Ursan.

The sad thing about this was it wasnt a elite area or a mission it was a quest.

Yes I could go with hero/Hench but thats not the point.
In light of this im starting to think GW2 I wont bother with,Considering they have turned GW into a Joke so will GW2 start out like this?

My thinking on the PvE aspect of the game is that nothing really has changed in the past few years. It’s just when I get burnt out with GW, I start to focus my attention on something else and usually set another goal for GW in which I come back for. You can always set up different goals that don’t revolve around one feature (example: titles & farming to which I despise), but can be different aspects of the game. Yes, I severely disliked EotN, but I made myself go through it with all my characters after a long break. I am probably one of the few who never likes taking short cuts when it comes to PvE and yet I still have fun in GW from time to time.

Exactly...........when I got bored with GW I took a break came back refresh, plus I don't play GW only, the worst thing you can do is play GW only.

I'm just wondering. How much time have you guys played, those of you that are bored?

I've logged just under 1000 hours, about 250 hours per campaign/expansion and I still have loads of content still to complete, explore ect. I've not, until recently, tried any of the Grinds.

250+ hours per $40 is the best value I've ever come across in a Vid game. Can anyone think of another online game with as much content? One that they've logged as many hours in? Endgame in WoW can be reached in around 250-500 hours, then the dungeon/gear grind begins. And they charge you monthly for dungeon/gear grinds, and the content is slim at that level. AoC uses the same model.

It does seem like GW1 is at cross purposes with character-specific Titles (character development) Vs multiple character/professions. One leads players to play only one character (develop one character), the other direction leads players to explore multiple professions, multiple alts. Maybe more titles should be account based. Most recently, GW1 encourages single character game play, especially if hunting for titles. Maybe this is why players feel burned-out. But then games like WoW and other Asian styled grinders will net you even fewer gameplay options if you choose to develop one character fully. And the Asian grinder will obviously also net you more "grind" styled content.

I have 1000 hours and just tried my first grind for titles in GW; It was a mistake, it ultimately led me to deleting all my characters, associated equipment, titles . . . (was also tired of using alts as storage). Now Playing a (Single) new character from scratch and loving it. (Starting from scratch = get to lvl 20 in a few hours and begin questing with a new profession.) Starting from scratch is the best way to play GW. Three continents to conquer. I might even try PuGing more, of which will obviously involve all the time sinks and failures inherent with PuGs; making the game about 3-5 times more difficult. Oddly, deleting all your characters can revitalize a grind tired player. Titles are great up until players hit the grindy parts for the final ranks. Titles should be linked to content only (and many are), even repeatable content. Kill quests are not content, and should only be a side dish; should be classified as something other than content for future development purposes, as it's more like content padding. But I digress.

All in all, the game quality per dollar spent is still unmatched for GW. No game even comes close. And, as far as MMOs go, GW, is still the best one I've ever played, irregardless of dollar value.

I'm just hoping I can get through all the PvE content Arena Net has given us, on a single character before GW2 overshadows everything. Only PvP alts need apply . . .

You are correct starting at least one character from scratch and starting over is a cleansing experience.

This will keep you busy for awhile at least until they come out with the "Kingdom of the Dredge" expansion set

That we have been all waiting for.

What happens when U take out the multiplayer? Yeah, you got basic RPG. And if you want that, you're better off with Fable or Oblivion.

I remember most PUGS I had. They were fun. Yeah, we ALL got pissed off that we had that one Wammo who decided to monk, because it is clearly ALOT better than a real monk, because he can't die...
But it's that exact thing that puts feelings into the game. You are actually pissed-off. Humans are social beings by nature. Ok, we're playing a game, and most of us leave the basement once a month, but still... You ARE in fact playing with other ACTUAL people. It's that what makes MMO's so fun, the fact that U CAN show off your e-peen, the fact that U CAN be pissed-off at other people, ...

Olias doesn't care if you fcuk up. Master of Whispers doesn't cry when your party whiped after a 3 hour vanquish. They ARN'T REAL. Pugs are...

Yes, I "herowayed" alot in PvE, but whenever I had the chance to take a real life person for a Vanquish, I'dd gladly kick a hero, for the pug (with whatever random bar he has). In another thread, I explain how good leadership can be the succes of a pug. Well, I myself (when I pug), I get 1 thing clear with the other people, and that is that they won't rage and/or do acts out of rage. (Screw up the vanquish because some guy over-aggrood)
I actually agree with this. Heroes took a large social aspect out of the Guild Wars PvE community. Personally I bought Guild Wars to play with other people, not AI, and to even think about playing with humans nowadays in pretty much most elite areas you have to grind rank for Ursan which you have to specifically buy Eye of the North for.

Realistically no matter which way you have it we can't win. Personally I prefered Guild Wars pre-Nightfall myself.

Hehe, I've been playing since Beta, and about a year ago I cleansed all of my PvE characters in favour of just one to work on it solidly for titles, wealth, and fame. Surprisingly it is actually quite a cleansing experience to do so and alot more rewarding to work on just one character than several at once.

Told you. They should add random quests. As I said here:

Then PvE will never end.

Im about ready to move on too, GW is great its just been a few years and its time for something new. I seriously wish they would put out some new kind of content or something. Like a couple 10 bucks bonus packs with new elite areas or something or... well anything!
BTW is there a skill balance coming?

Would being an Ursan be any different from the only two other builds groups would allow you to join with? SS and MM? There is no friggin difference, its all cookie cutter, leave ursan alone.

No, they didn't. Heroes and inscriptions were the best things to happen to PVE in a very, very long time...

By your standards, Ursan is saving PVE by encouraging PUGS (which might well be one of the reasons Anet won't do anything about it)

Yeah good idea, except there is no way for a player to gain any meaningful introduction to PvP unless he joins a PvP guild that is ,

a) Active

b) Has the patience to teach a new player in the finer arts of it.

or
c) Anet make the game give better access to PvP other than RA which is awful. (which aint gonna happen)

PvE was at its best in 05/ 06 pre Factions.

Downhill since then, and recently the splitting of skills and the introduction of bullshit PvE skills basically screwed the lid on the coffin.....

Im a long time player.
Been taking a long loooong hiatus from GW.
Basically for that reason, PvE has lost its glamour for me.

I am one of those full time working, busy life kind of people and dont have time to dedicate to competative PvP. In Factions days, i was heavy into PvP, and had time to practice alot in GvGs. Sadly the last couple of years completely wipes that from my menu... no longer a possibility for me.

So for the last couple of years it has been pure PvE, yes for the "fun" of it.
I played multiple characters thru multiple storylines, goofed around with random builds for fun and grouped/helped friends.

However, as SOON as i gave in to title grinding, the game quickly became a boring chore for me. I had been doing it for only one char, and in less than 6 months i could barely stand to play anymore... This was nearly 6 months ago now...

I have logged on GW for the first time in over 6 months now, and am determined to try and just goof around in PvE, just "for fun"! Not grind for titles, as that sapped the joy out of the game for me so quickly before. The fact of the matter is, 50% of the enjoyment i get out of this game comes from the gorgeous graphics/artwork. And PvE is prime for that.

One day when my life settles down, i may try to get back into PvP. Although GW2 might be out by then, and the whole cycle may start again; i hope not.

So in otherwords, yes PvE had lost its enjoyment for me, but *purely* due to title grinding. Something i will be trying to stay away from as i start to play again. I'm close to lvl 3 Koabd, so i might just finish that to have it. But i gotta fight the urge after that. lol!

Anywhoo, that was my $0.02
eh more like a couple dollars worth of text lol.

cheers.

No no...

I played zergway until r3 if i remember well. It was when Black Parades were rolling with it. (i know it's a lame build but you can't really get into decent teams unranked so we all went through that i believe)

Then when i could get decent balanced groups i started monking hardcore both in ha and gvg ^^ i have experience it's just that pugging in HA is a pain, and i could never really get in those top guilds (both HA and GvG) since as i said i'm not able to talk much on vent/ts due to a speech disorder i have. And i understand that, since it cripples a team a bit to have a monk/midline who can't communicate with the rest.

I had my share of holding halls so i know where you're coming from, as much as i'd love to get into more serious pvp i'm unable to, and pugging past r8 is a nightmare.

Thanks for the ideas though.

PvE is fun for the first few play throughs then its all the same.
Its because its contantly the same. PvP is better because its changes depending on what sort of players/teams you will come up against.

Some PvE skills are ok and helpful to use in builds. Ursan killed PvE.
"Hey guys? anybody want to vanquish *area*?"
"Sure, Ursan, 30 minute job!"
Now you cant get the people together to make a non-ursan team so if your wanting something done you will have to ursan or go monk.

Finding it harder to log in any more - the game has simply lost its appeal (for now anyway). I blame grinding and heroes for that.

There is still a lot of fun things to do One of the funnest for me is meeting new people, and making friends. Also, many people come into this game brand new everyday, and it is fun (for me) to get into groups and go through it all over again with them as they enjoy it for the first time Also I have yet to complete all the campaigns with ALL classes of characters, so it's one more thing to do It was never a challenge, but it had a lot of fun aspects to it that for me, are still fun
